Less then 6% of Men' Rogaine Extra Strength users reported mild side effects of rogaine, such as itching or irritation

Drug interactions with Rogaine

In order to not increase the absorption of Rogaine, it is indicated to not use Rogaine in association with the following products:
  • Retin-A, Renova, RoC, or other products based on tretinoin (Vitamin A derivate)
  • corticosteroids
  • Vaseline


Using Propecia and Rogaine together

There are not relevant studies about using Propecia and Rogaine at the same time.

There is a published report involving a young man using both Rogaine (minoxidil - but here was also mixed with Retin-A) and finasteride(Propecia). Even if significant improvements have been obtained, it can not be considered a certain conclusion.

Side Effects of Rogaine

1997: FDA considered Rogaine safe enough to be used without a prescription.

Possible Rogaine Side effects: (in less then 6% of subjects)
  • Most frequent side effect of Rogaine is scalp irritation.
  • For temporarily switch to Men's Rogaine Regular Strength
  • Hands or feet swell
  • scalp redness


Things to consider:
  • Men's Rogaine works without interacting/altering male hormones
  • First results can be seen in 2-4 months for using Rogaine for Men and up to 4 months using Rogaine for Women
  • Women's Rogaine treatment can not be stoped. Doing so, the hair will start to thin again.


DO NOT use Rogaine if:
  • you are pregnant or nursing, unless you see your physician
  • you are under 18 years of age
  • your scalp is in a bad condition (infections, redness, irritation)
  • your hair loss is sudden / childbirth related
